Software planning

Experience from the successful completion of many different DO-178 developments means we are especially qualified to help you plan your certifiable software project.

  • Determine the proper DAL (or DALs) for your project
  • Select the most appropriate RTOS, development environment and toolsets
  • Provide independent review and preparation of all phase gate checklists
  • Develop DO-178 documents including:
    • Plan for software aspects of certification
    • Software development plan
    • Software verification plan
    • Software configuration management plan
    • Software quality assurance plan

Software development

Our engineers are experienced software reliability and software safety experts as well as software developers. We have been designing high-reliability robust software since our inception in 1984 and many of our projects have been developed in compliance with DO-178. Areas of expertise include:

  • Requirements development and allocation
  • Design capture
  • Coding standards development
  • Code development
  • Peer reviews
  • Unit test development
  • Integration

Software test, verification and validation

We develop and apply efficient test plans and procedures to streamline testing while assuring that tests correctly and completely verify requirements in the least amount of time. Test documents are in compliance with DO-178. These include:

  • Integration tests
  • Qualification plans and procedures with full requirements traceability
  • Structural code coverage including MC/DC for DAL A

Reliability Analysis Techniques: How they Relate to Aircraft Certification

What’s Inside: Classic reliability analysis techniques, namely, Reliability Prediction, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) are the framework for the aircraft certification process. These innovative technique have been utilized since the 1990s with the advent of the Society of Automotive Engineer’s Aerospace Recommended Practice 4761 (SAE ARP 4761). Today, SAE ARP 4761 is the defacto standard used for aircraft certification.
